Dark Was The Night

To raise money for HIV/AIDS a pretty interesting group of artists/bands were put together for the making of what I would call a charity album. Arcade Fire, Cat Power, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, My Morning Jacket and David Byrne were all included in this 31 track record. The album is called Dark Was The Night. All in all the album raised £400,000, (which would be 696 994.83 in Canadian dollars). The money was raised for a program that helps HIV/AIDS charaties all over the world, The Red Hot Organization.

The Rakes split and cancel tour!

Attention all fans of The Rakes. They no longer exist! Information was released October 22. According to their official website the reason behind the break up was simply lack of desire to continue writing. The Rakes originally formed in 2004. They managed to release three full length albums from August, 2005 to March, 2009. The Rakes were known for their exhilarating stage presence. The groups October UK tour has been canceled as well as their American tour. Its just too bad.

Where The Wild Things Are (soundtrack)

Alright well after several cups of green tea, and about sixteen times of somehow seeing the "Where The Wild Things Are" preview I've decided that I have to share this.
This fourteen track compilation for the most part is controlled by Karen O (vocals-yeah yeah yeahs) and the kids. The songs all seem to vibe really well with the movie. Karen O co-produced with Tom Biller of the Afternoons on this one. List of "and the kids" includes band mates Brian Chase and Nick Zinner as well a short list from Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age), to Imaad Wasif (New Folk Implosion, Alaska). I could never rate an album or something upon stars or however they do it. Its just not fair. Listen to capsize, animal, and food is still hot.

laugh all you want Milo. this ones for you.

We Are The City

About a week ago I walked into a pub to find myself very intrigued by a band called We Are The City from Kelowna, British Columbia. This three piece consisted of a drummer, a guitar player, and a pianist. The pianist lead the vocals for the most part. The song I walked into was called Morning Song. The timing seemed so dysfunctional but it was almost like that was their sound? Nonetheless I have been listening to a track they wrote called Time, Wasted on repeat for the last four days. We Are The City will succeed in the near future, I feel it.

Tegan and Sara : Sainthood, Tuesday, Oct.27

New tour dates, and tons of road time expired. Tegan and Sara bring you Sainthood. The sixth full length album of their careers. These Calgary, Alberta born women seem to be creating new ideas for more of an electric sound. Versatile, in my mind is the best word to describe their sense for creation. Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Walla once again was involved with much of the production of this album. This thirteen track wonderland album is desirable in my mind. But if older Tegan and Sara sound is what your looking for then you're choosing the wrong Album. Nonetheless I would recommend this album to anybody with an open mind. Enjoy.
